It’s important to take care of yourself when the days are shorter, colder and darker. While it’s tempting to curl up at home, being proactive can make sure that you and your family stay well throughout the winter season.

The below steps are important for keeping you healthy during winter:

  1. Wash your hands. Washing your hands is one of the best defences despite being the most overlooked. Make sure to wash in warm, soapy water for 20 seconds and get between your fingers and under your nails.
  2. Vitamins. Taking supplements like vitamin C and zinc can help boost your immunity. With less sunshine, it’s also important to get more vitamin D to support healthy bones.
  3. Fluids. Keeping your fluids up means you can stay focused and active. It will also help keep dry skin at bay and the mucus membranes functioning to fight off germs.
