Italian Beef Stew

Serves 6


  • 1.5 kg NZ Quality Mark Rump or Topside Steak, Bolar or Topside Roast, diced into 25mm cubes
  • 1 cup Beef Stock
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 2 carrots, peeled, halved and cut into 15mm pieces
  • 2 potatoes, peeled, halved and cut into 15mm pieces
  • 400g can diced tomatoes
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp dry oregano
  • 1 tsp dry thyme
  • ½ tsp dry rosemary
  • ½ tsp dry salt
  • ½ tsp dry pepper

How to Chop an Onion


In slow cooker placed cubed beef, stock, onion, celery, carrots and potatoes.

Top with tomatoes and herbs, stir and cook on low for 8-10 hours.

Remove bay leaves and serve with rice and seasonal fresh green vegetables or on kumara mash topped with freshly chopped parsley
