Onecard terms and conditions

as at 31 October 2015

By applying for a Onecard, you agree to be bound by the following Onecard loyalty programme terms and conditions (“Terms”). If you are already a member of the Onecard programme, your continued use of your Onecard is your agreement to these Terms.

In these Terms, references to “we”, “us” and/or “our” are references to Progressive Enterprises Limited, 80 Favona Road, Mangere, Auckland.


  1. It is free to join the Onecard programme.
  2. All members of the Onecard programme must be resident in New Zealand.
  3. Your Onecard is valid for use at all Countdown supermarkets including online stores. Progressive may introduce additional points issuing partners into the Onecard programme at any time.
  4. Your Onecard is not transferable, and can only be used by the person whose name is on the card (with the exception of a Corporate Cheque ID card).
  5. Your Onecard is issued by us and remains our property. We reserve the right, at any time without notice, to:
          (a) decline to issue Onecards; and
          (b) on reasonable grounds, withdraw or cancel a Onecard and/or Onecard reward points. Reasonable grounds include (without limitation):
                i. any abuse or attempted abuse of the Onecard programme, or
                ii. any use or attempted use of a Onecard or Onecard reward points in a manner which is contrary to these Terms; or
                iii. our reasonable suspicion of dishonesty on the part of a customer in connection with the Onecard programme.
  6. If we cancel your Onecard in such circumstances, you will forfeit any Onecard reward points you have accumulated and you will no longer be eligible to receive or to redeem Onecard rewards vouchers.
  7. We reserve the right to terminate the Onecard programme for any reason. Where we decide to terminate the Onecard programme, we will endeavour to give you reasonable notice of termination.
  8. For special Onecard promotions, other terms and conditions (in addition to these Terms) may apply.
  9. Your legal name must be used on all Onecard applications.

Onecard club prices

  1. In order to be eligible to purchase certain goods and services at Onecard club prices, you must present or swipe your Onecard at the supermarket checkout or, when shopping online, by entering your Onecard number at the online checkout.
  2. The number and variety of Onecard club prices may vary based on the product range and availability of stock in each store.

Onecard rewards - earning points

  1. You must spend a minimum of $10 in a single transaction to qualify for an award of Onecard reward points. Once the minimum spend amount has been satisfied, you will then be awarded one (1) Onecard reward point for every whole $10 spent in that transaction.  In calculating the minimum spend amount some products are required by law to be excluded, e.g. tobacco products.  We will exclude such products from the calculation of the minimum spend where we are required to do so by law.
  2. We reserve the right to change the required minimum spend and / or the number of Onecard points awarded in respect of the minimum spend amount. We will endeavour to give you reasonable notice of any change.
  3. Onecard reward points may from time to time also be earned through bonus point promotions. Additional terms and conditions may apply to bonus point promotions.
  4. You must use your own Onecard to earn Onecard reward points.
  5. You can link your Onecard with any other member of your household living at the same address. When your Onecards are linked, the Onecard reward points earned by each linked member will be added together.
  6. You must ask permission from the other Onecard member prior to requesting that your respective Onecards be linked. To link your Onecards, please call us on 0800 40 40 40 and have your respective Onecard numbers ready. By making a request to link your respective Onecards, you agree that you have obtained permission from the other cardholder to link your cards in accordance with these Terms.
  7. When your Onecards are linked, you must nominate one person as the main cardholder. All Onecard reward points earned will then be credited to the nominated cardholder's Onecard account, and they will receive any Onecard rewards vouchers. If your cards are unlinked in the future, any accrued Onecard reward points will be returned to the cardholder that earned the relevant Onecard reward points, unless the Onecard reward points have either expired or been redeemed.
  8. Onecard reward points, and any rights they confer, cannot be sold, transferred, assigned or otherwise dealt with except in accordance with these Terms.
  9. Onecard reward points may be deducted from your Onecard reward points balance where a transaction is cancelled or a refund occurs.
  10. Onecard charge card account holders can take advantage of Onecard club prices but are not eligible to earn Onecard reward points or Onecard bonus points.
  11. Transactions using a store Onecard will not give Onecard reward points to an individual Onecard member but will, at the store’s discretion, allow the member to take advantage of Onecard club prices.

Onecard rewards vouchers

  1. For every 200 Onecard reward points you have earned at the applicable Onecard rewards cut-off date, you will receive a Onecard rewards voucher to the value of $15. The Onecard rewards cut-off dates are the first Sunday of every February, May, August and November. We reserve the right to change the redemption amount and/or the Onecard rewards cut-off dates. We will give you reasonable notice of any such change.
  2. If there are any Onecard reward points remaining on your account after the relevant Onecard rewards cut-off date, these will be carried forward to the next Onecard rewards cut-off date, provided that those remaining Onecard reward points have not expired (see below “Expiry of Onecard reward points”).
  3. It is your responsibility to keep your mailing address updated. We won't convert your Onecard reward points into Onecard rewards vouchers if we know we don't have your current mailing address (e.g. if mail we have previously sent to you has been returned to us).
  4. Once Onecard reward points have been converted into Onecard rewards vouchers and mailed, they cannot be reissued.
  5. Onecard reward points will not be converted into Onecard rewards vouchers if you owe us money.
  6. Any tampering or defacing of Onecard rewards vouchers will render them invalid.

Expiry of Onecard reward points

  1. Onecard reward points expire six (6) months after the date they were earned if they have not been converted into a Onecard rewards voucher at the applicable Onecard rewards cut-off date. Expired Onecard reward points are removed from your account four times a year immediately after each Onecard rewards mailing. We may also remove Onecard rewards points from your account at any time where such points will be more than six months old at the next applicable rewards cut-off date.

Redemption of Onecard rewards vouchers

  1. Onecard rewards vouchers can be redeemed only once to purchase goods and services to the value of the amount shown on the face of the Onecard rewards voucher.
  2. Onecard rewards vouchers can be redeemed at any Countdown supermarket or when shopping online at You must present your Onecard at the checkout when redeeming your Onecard rewards vouchers. Instructions regarding the redemption of Onecard rewards vouchers when shopping online can be found at
  3. You must redeem your Onecard rewards voucher before the expiry date which is printed on the bottom right of the voucher.
  4. Onecard rewards vouchers are personal to, and may only be redeemed by, the Onecard member to whom they were issued (as stated on the front of the voucher). Onecard rewards vouchers are non-transferable and may not be assigned.
  5. Onecard rewards vouchers are not exchangeable for cash, Countdown gift vouchers, Countdown Christmas Club vouchers or Lotto products.  We may also place restrictions on the use of Onecard reward vouchers to purchase certain products where the purchase of those products using a Onecard reward voucher would cause a breach of the law.  Any such excluded products will be detailed on the Onecard rewards vouchers, from time to time.
  6. Change of up to $1 will be given on purchases of goods and services paid for with Onecard rewards vouchers.

How to cancel your Onecard

  1. You may cancel your Onecard membership at any time by calling us on 0800 40 40 40.


  1. Certain legislation including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 may imply warranties or conditions or impose other obligations including statutory consumer guarantees which cannot by law be excluded, restricted or modified. To the extent permitted by law (and without limiting any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993), we will not be liable to you in connection with:your use or attempted use of a Onecard in breach of these Terms;
          a. any delay in replacing a Onecard; 
          b. any loss, theft or damage to any Onecard rewards voucher(s) in the course of post 
              or delivery; 
          c. any stolen, mislaid, lost, destroyed or damaged Onecard rewards vouchers - they 
              cannot be reissued or replaced; or 
          d. any loss or damage as a result of any suspension and/or termination of your Onecard 
              membership, or the Onecard programme, in accordance with these Terms.

Cheque ID Onecard

  1. You must have a Cheque ID Onecard or Countdown Cheque ID Card if you wish to pay by cheque in Countdown. To receive a Cheque ID Onecard you must present a completed application form, your cheque book and one of the following forms of personal identification at a Countdown store: Photo Driver's Licence; HANZ card; Passport or Birth Certificate.
  2. You must show your Cheque ID Onecard every time you wish to pay by cheque. Only the named cardholder can use the Cheque ID Onecard when presenting cheques.
  3. Cheque drawn subject to conditions displayed in store. Should the cheque be dishonoured the customer is liable for late payment fees, administration costs, interest at 2.5% and debt collection agency costs.

Business Cheque ID Onecard

  1. By signing a Business Cheque ID Onecard, you acknowledge that you take responsibility for its use (unless the card has been reported stolen to our Customer Care team prior to being presented).
  2. Anyone can present a cheque using a Business Cheque ID Onecard, provided that the name on the cheque matches the name on the front of the Onecard.
  3. Cheque drawn subject to conditions displayed in store. Should the cheque be dishonoured the customer is liable for late payment fees, administration costs, interest at 2.5% and debt collection agency costs.

Privacy notice

  1. By applying for and using your Onecard, you consent to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and this Privacy notice. You can find our Privacy Policy online at: Alternatively, you may contact us on 0800 40 40 40 and we will make a copy of our Privacy Policy available to you on request.
  2. In addition to the matters set out in our Privacy Policy, your personal information is collected so that we can provide you with the benefits of having a Onecard, Cheque ID Onecard, Business Cheque ID Onecard and other Onecard related products and services. If you do not provide us with information, you may not be able to obtain those benefits, products or services.
  3. By applying for and using your Onecard, you agree that we may collect, store and use information from your application and information on how you use your Onecard, what you buy in our stores and other information you provide to us, to:
          a. Send you any Onecard rewards vouchers you may be entitled to; 
          b. Understand Onecard members' shopping habits; 
          c. Contact you by mail, phone and, if you consent, email or text/SMS: 
                i.  in relation to any special offers, discounts, promotions, products and / or services
                    offered by us or other related companies in our group, that may be of interest to
                    you and your family; and 
                ii. for research purposes related to your supermarket shopping and other marketing
                    and promotional purposes.
  4. Your personal information may be shared with our employees, contractors, agents, companies working on our behalf (such as mailing companies who send out Onecard rewards vouchers), selected business partners (who assist or enable us to provide certain products and services to you) and other related companies in our group, but, except as required by law, your personal information will never be provided to a third party for their own use.
  5. Our Privacy Policy contains information on how you may access and seek correction of your personal information.   6. In the event of a dishonoured cheque, your personal information may be used to register the debt on the Personal Property Securities Register and or be provided to, and for the use of, debt collection agencies.

Terms subject to change

These Terms are current as at 31 October 2015. We reserve the right to change these Terms at our discretion. We will give you reasonable notice of any changes via our website at and/or by other communication methods we adopt from time to time. You may cancel your Onecard membership within the period of that notice or at any other time. Where we change these Terms, an updated copy of them will be available on our website or you may request a copy by telephoning our Customer Care team on 0800 40 40 40.
