Onecard terms and conditions

The purpose of Onecard (“Onecard”) is to offer benefits to our regular customers that are not available to other shoppers.

By applying for a Onecard, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. If you already own a Onecard, your continued use of that card is your agreement to be bound by the following terms and conditions.


  1. Membership of the Onecard programme is free.
  2. Your Onecard is issued by and remains the property of Progressive Enterprises Limited ("Progressive"). Progressive reserves the right, at any time without notice, to:
    (a) terminate the Onecard programme;
    (b) decline to issue Onecards; and
    (c) on reasonable grounds, withdraw or cancel Onecards, or Onecard points, and/or alter or amend the conditions of operation of the Onecard programme.
  3. Reasonable grounds include:
    (a) any abuse or attempted abuse of the Onecard programme, or
    (b) any use or attempted use of a Onecard, or Onecard points in a manner which is contrary to these terms and conditions; or
    (c) any reasonable suspicion of dishonesty on the part of a customer in connection with the Onecard programme.
  4. All members of the Onecard programme must be residents of New Zealand.
  5. Your Onecard is not transferable, and can only be used by the person whose name is on the card (with the exception of a Corporate Cheque ID card).
  6. Members may be removed from the Onecard programme at any time at the discretion of Progressive.
  7. Onecard is valid for use at all Countdown supermarkets including online stores. Participating stores may change from time to time, and the benefits of the programme may change according to store  location.
  8. Progressive can introduce additional points issuing partners into the Onecard programme at any time.
  9. For special promotions other terms and conditions may apply.

Onecard club price product discounts

  1. You must present your Onecard at the supermarket checkout to receive Onecard club prices.
  2. Selected Onecard club prices are available at Countdown Online Shopping.
  3. The number of Onecard club prices will vary based on the product range and availability in each store.

Onecard rewards - earning points

  1. You must swipe your own Onecard to earn rewards points. Transactions using a store Onecard will not give points to an individual Onecard member.
  2. You must spend a minimum of $10 in a single transaction to qualify for Onecard points. You will then receive 1 Onecard reward point for every whole $10 spent in that transaction. This earning rate can be altered at the discretion of Progressive. Onecard points may also be earned through bonus point promotions. See specific promotions for terms and conditions.
  3. You can link your Onecard with any other member of your household. Both of your Onecard reward points will then be added together. To link your Onecards call us on 0800 40 40 40 with your Onecard numbers.
  4. You must ask permission from the other cardholder prior to requesting that your respective Onecards be linked. When your Onecards are linked, you must nominate one person as the main cardholder. All Onecard points collected at Countdown will be credited to the nominated cardholder's account, and they will receive any Onecard reward vouchers. If your cards are unlinked in future, any accrued Onecard points will remain with the nominated cardholder’s account that collected them. By making a request to link your respective Onecards, you agree that you have obtained permission from the other cardholder to link your cards in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  5. Onecard reward points, and any rights they confer, cannot be sold, transferred, assigned or otherwise dealt with except in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  6. Onecard reward points may be deducted from your Onecard points balance where a transaction is cancelled or a refund occurs.
  7. Charge account holders can take advantage of Onecard club prices but cannot earn Onecard reward points or Onecard bonus points.

Onecard rewards voucher - receiving reward vouchers

  1. The current redemption rate is $15 (redeemed in the form of a rewards voucher) for every 200 points at the rewards cut-off date (being the first Sunday of every February, May, August and November). Progressive reserves the right to alter the redemption rate or rewards cut-off dates at any time.
  2. Any points remaining after conversion into rewards vouchers will be carried forward to the next rewards date. Onecard points expire after 6 months if they are not converted into a rewards voucher. Expired Onecard points are removed from your account four times a year immediately after each rewards mailing.
  3. Onecard points will not be converted into rewards vouchers if you owe us money.
  4. It is your responsibility to keep your address updated. We won't convert your Onecard points into rewards vouchers if we know we don't have your current address (i.e. if previous mail has been returned).
  5. Once Onecard points have been converted into rewards vouchers and mailed, they cannot be reissued.

Rewards vouchers

  1. Rewards vouchers are personal and non-transferable.
  2. Rewards vouchers can be used only once to purchase goods and services to the value of the amount shown on the face of the rewards voucher when used in conjunction with your Onecard.
  3. Rewards vouchers can be used at any Countdown supermarket, or online at countdown.co.nz. Instructions regarding online redemptions can be found at  countdown.co.nz.
  4. Reward vouchers are not exchangeable for cash, Progressive gift vouchers, Christmas Club vouchers, Lotto or tobacco products.
  5. Change of up to $1 will be given on purchases paid for with Onecard rewards vouchers.
  6. Please ensure you redeem your rewards voucher before the expiry date which is printed on the bottom right of the voucher as it will not be reissued once expired.
  7. Any tampering or defacing of rewards vouchers will render them invalid.

Progressive is not liable for

  1. Any delay in replacing a Onecard.
  2. Any loss, theft or damage to any rewards voucher(s) in the course of post or delivery.
  3. Any stolen, mislaid, lost, destroyed or damaged rewards vouchers - they cannot be reissued or replaced.
  4. The suspension and/or termination of the Onecard programme.

Cheque ID Onecard

  1. You must have a Cheque ID Onecard or Countdown Cheque ID Card if you wish to pay by cheque in Countdown.
  2. To receive a Cheque ID Onecard you must present a completed application form, your cheque book and one of the following forms of personal identification at a Countdown store: Photo Driver's Licence; HANZ card; Passport or Birth Certificate.
  3. You must show your Cheque ID Onecard every time you wish to pay by cheque.
  4. Only the named cardholder can use the Cheque ID Onecard when presenting cheques.
  5. Cheque drawn subject to conditions displayed in store. Should the cheque be dishonoured the customer is liable for late payment fees, administration costs, interest at 2.5% and debt collection agency costs.

Business Cheque ID Onecard

  1. By signing a Business Cheque ID Onecard, you acknowledge that you take responsibility for its use (unless the card has been reported stolen to our Customer Service prior to being presented).
  2. Anyone can present a cheque using a Business Cheque ID Onecard, provided that the name on the cheque matches the name on the front of the Onecard.
  3. Cheque drawn subject to conditions displayed in store. Should the cheque be dishonoured the customer is liable for late payment fees, administration costs, interest at 2.5% and debt collection agency costs.

Terms subject to change

Please check these terms and conditions periodically, as they are subject to change. Continuing to use your Onecard after any changes to these terms and conditions indicates your acceptance of those changes.

Onecard, Cheque ID Onecard, Business Cheque ID Onecard and your Privacy

  1. Progressive collects and holds personal information in accordance with its obligations under the Privacy Act 1993. Your personal information is collected so that we can provide you with the benefits of having a Onecard, Cheque ID Onecard, Business Cheque ID Onecard and other related Onecard products and services. Failure to provide requested personal information may result in us not being able to provide such benefits to you. By applying for a Onecard, you agree that Progressive may collect, store and use your details from the application form, along with details on how you use your Onecard and what you buy in our stores and other information you provide to us, to:
    a. Send you any Onecard rewards vouchers you may be entitled to;
    b. Understand customers' shopping habits to improve service;
    c. If you consent, contact you with special offers, discounts and information about products and services (by mail, email or mobile phone) offered by Progressive or Countdown, that may be of interest to you and your family; and
    d. If you consent, contact you for research (by email or by telephone) related to your supermarket shopping and other marketing and promotional purposes.
  2. By applying for a Onecard, you agree that your personal information may be shared with our employees, contractors, agents, companies working on our behalf (such as mailing companies who send out rewards vouchers) and selected business partners, but, except as required by law, information identifying an individual will never be passed on to a third party for their own use.
  3. Progressive may disclose this information to third parties if it is required to do so by law.
  4. You can opt into or out of receiving promotional materials at any time by contacting Customer Service. You will still be sent your Onecard rewards vouchers when you qualify.
  5. In the event of a dishonoured cheque, your personal information may be used to register the debt on the Personal Property Securities Register and or be provided to, and for the use of, debt collection agencies.
  6. You have the right to access and correct personal information, and can do this online at countdown.co.nz or by calling 0800 40 40 40 during business hours. Your information will be held by us at 80 Favona Road, Mangere, Auckland.
  7. Please note: Your legal name must be used on all applications.
