Countdown has today opened its brand new, tiny-but-mighty, Wānaka Metro store - just in the nick of time for locals looking to make a last minute dash for the cream to top the Christmas day Pavlova! 

Kiwi Christmas preparations are well underway, with more than 208 tonnes of Christmas ham, two million Christmas mince pies and 500,000 Christmas crackers already hitting the shopping trolleys of Countdown customers across Aotearoa. 


Woolworths New Zealand is recalling Chelsea and Countdown branded raw sugar and brown sugar products bought on either Thursday, 25 November or Friday, 26 November from any Countdown, SuperValue or FreshChoice store in the South Island as well as Countdown Petone, Countdown Lower Hutt or Countdown Upper Hutt in Wellington.

Countdown is  cracking on with its plan to go cage-free across the country, with Countdown’s Ferrymead, Ponsonby, Kilbirnie, Petone and Takapuna stores now stocking cage-free eggs only from today.

In a move designed to further protect the health and safety of its team, Countdown has announced a proposal to require all roles across the business to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 10 January 2022.
