Donate to Red Cross November 2016 Earthquake Appeal at Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice supermarkets
Donations kick-started with $25,000 from stores
18 November 2016: From today, Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice customers can donate to the Red Cross November 2016 Earthquake Appeal. All funds raised go to the Red Cross for their work to support communities affected by this week’s earthquakes.
Donations can be made in specially-marked donation boxes at the checkout, or you can make a donation during your supermarket shop at the EFTPOS terminal.
Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice stores have kick-started their fundraising by donating $25,000 to the Appeal, and team members at support offices will also be taking part in a mufti day tomorrow to raise additional funds.
Managing Director, Dave Chambers says supporting the Appeal is an easy way for people to help, no matter where they live.
“Our teams and customers are from the regions affected and we want to help our communities get the support they need so that they can start to tidy-up and try to get back on their feet as soon as possible following this terrible disaster.
“I have been travelling around our stores this week checking in on our teams to make sure they have support and ensuring that our stores are safely up and running for customers around the country,” says Dave Chambers. “I have seen first-hand the impact the earthquake has had on our communities and the damage that this earthquake has caused.
“We want to do our bit to ensure that those most in need are receiving help and the Red Cross are best placed to manage this,” says Dave Chambers.
Some Countdown, SuperValue and Fresh Choice stores around the country are also helping collect grocery donations in support of Civil Defence efforts to deliver food parcels, water, and necessities to remote farmlands in and around Kaikoura.
