Countdown Queensgate Mall set to re-open

Friday, 18 November 2016: Countdown Queensgate Mall Lower Hutt is set to re-open on Saturday 19 November at 9am.

Access will be from the Countdown carpark on Knights Road. Customers will not be able to access the store through Queensgate Mall.

The store has been checked by engineers and is structurally sound. Mall management has given us the all clear to open.

Countdown Wainuiomata Mall remains closed. Currently we are on track to open early-to-mid next week.

All SuperValue and FreshChoice stores are trading.

From today, Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice customers can donate to the Red Cross November 2016 Earthquake Appeal.  All funds raised go to the Red Cross for their work to support communities affected by this week’s earthquakes. Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice stores have kick-started their fundraising by donating $25,000 to the Appeal.

For Wainuiomata customers:

The store was damaged in the earthquakes and we are completing repairs now. Currently we are on track to open early-to-mid next week.

We appreciate this temporary closure makes grocery shopping more difficult for our Wainui customers, so we have put in some special options for them:

  • We are running a free bus service from Countdown Wainuiomata car park twice daily to Countdown Petone for our local customers.
  • The bus will leave from outside the WINZ office in the Wainuiomata Mall main car park at 10am and 5pm. It will return approximately an hour later from Petone to Countdown Wainuiomata.
  • We will run this until further notice.

Free online delivery for Wainuiomata customers has been extended until Wednesday 23 November.

When Countdown team are back in the store, we will make sure any food that can be rescued goes to local charities.
