Countdown network update
Monday, 14 November 2016, 9.00am: Countdown will be doing everything we can to support our team and our communities, after last night’s earthquakes.
We have had no reported injuries of Countdown team, but are continuing to check on their welfare and personal situations.
We are currently assessing the Woolworths New Zealand network. As at 8.45am, we have closed eight Countdown stores, and one SuperValue store. This may change and we will update team and customers through the course of the day.
In the South Island all our Countdown stores are open, except three stores in the Blenheim region. These stores are: Blenheim, Redwoodtown and Springlands. Seddon SuperValue is also closed.
In the North Island, we have currently closed five stores in the Wellington region. Queensgate Mall and Wainuiomata Mall are closed. Petone, Lower Hutt, and Porirua are also closed, but are expected to open during the day.
All other stores in Wellington and the Lower North Island, including our Wellington central store are open.
All these stores are being checked by structural engineers and we will update our team and customers over the course of the day.
Online shopping is temporarily unavailable in Nelson, Blenheim, Wellington, Lower Hutt, Kilbirnie and Porirua. Christchurch online delivery will also be disrupted.
Our Palmerston North Distribution Centre is closed, with orders being diverted to our Auckland Regional Distribution Centre.
Given some of the disruptions with road, rail and ferry networks there may be some delays in getting stock to some of our South Island stores. However, we expect to be able to manage this.
We are liaising with suppliers and stakeholders to understand any impacts on them.
