Expiry dates get the heave-ho this Christmas
Countdown removing expiry dates from gift cards and Christmas Club vouchers purchased in the last year
1 December 2016: Kiwis no longer need to worry about the expiry date on their Countdown gift cards or Christmas Club vouchers. Countdown has removed expiry dates from its gift cards or vouchers purchased in the last year, and all new cards and vouchers purchased will remain valid until the value is spent.
Countdown General Manager Corporate Affairs, James Walker, says customers now have more flexibility and confidence when buying gift cards at Countdown, particularly at Christmas when the cards are a popular present choice.
“Countdown gift cards are a popular and practical gift. People love receiving a little something to help with the shopping, or to buy a few treats. While most of our gift cards have traditionally been used in full before they expire, now you can hang on to them for as long as you like,” says James Walker.
“We also decided it would be helpful to our customers to remove Christmas Club voucher expiry dates too. This means our customers can use them when they want to, whether it’s this Christmas or next,” he says.
Countdown will run through its current stock of gift cards before printing new cards. For Countdown gift cards and Christmas Club vouchers purchased on or after 1 December 2015, the expiry date will not apply. The value on the gift card or Christmas Club voucher will remain valid until it is spent.
Any gift card or Christmas Club voucher purchased before 1 December 2015 will remain expired.
