The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has fought poverty and social distress in New Zealand since 1883. Every year The Salvation Army helps a growing number of people who need help just to put food on the table, helping more than 120,000 families and individuals in need with budgeting advice, food and clothing assistance, life skills programmes and other comfort and support.
As Countdown's national charity partner, we’re proud to support The Salvation Army through our Food Rescue programme donations and Winter and Christmas appeals. We also partner together in The Foodbank Project and with The Good Shop.
KidsCan
KidsCan helps Kiwi kids living in hardship reach their full potential and create brighter futures for themselves. They do this by providing Kiwi kids in need with food, clothing and health items at school, so they can get into the classroom in a position to learn.
Countdown has partnered with KidsCan on initiatives over a number of years and our stores are biggest sellers of the KidsCan Christmas Cracker.
Forest & Bird
Forest & Bird is Aotearoa’s leading independent conservation organisation. For nearly a century they have been nature’s voice and work hard to defend it – protecting and restoring Aotearoa’s wildlife and wild places, on land and in the sea. As one of the first and most enduring conservation groups in New Zealand they’ve played a crucial role in saving and restoring the country’s natural environment and our unique native species.
