Promotions, Planning & Production team
Our Promotions, Planning & Production team is responsible for design and delivery of our weekly offer - our great specials, low prices and short term promotional activity, all key components of our strategy to ensure that our customers know what great offers we have today and every day – in store or online. Working with various parts of the business, the team constantly pushes the boundaries to communicate our low prices and great specials via a wide range of different media channels from TV to mailers to digital and social. If you are as obsessed with price as we are, join this team of like minded creative individuals.
Our Brand team
Our Brand team looks after the overall Countdown brand from our corporate identity to the look and feel of our marketing communications. If you are a foodie you are particularly welcome, as this team is dedicated to bringing New Zealanders great food at low prices. We live and breathe food, love cooking and enjoy the many special moments food brings to Kiwis’ lives.
Knowing that great food should not cost the earth, we work on bringing low priced and healthy products to customers through our own label products; Essentials, Countdown, Gold, Free from Gluten and Good for You ranges. We love engaging with customers through events and know how much being active in their local community means to them. We know that the life of our customers is getting increasingly busy.
The Digital team is committed to communicating at a 1:1 level with our customers wherever possible, making sure that shopping, getting food inspiration or accessing information is easy and fast and that the experience is as relevant and personal as possible. Our customers love to engage with us through our award-winning emails, websites and social platforms where we deliver up great content, specials on their favourite products, awesome cooking ideas that won’t break the bank, exciting competitions and tell them what is going on in their local area or store. If data, digital and social is your thing, but you still live in the real world too that’s exactly where the digital team’s thinking is.
The Loyalty and Financial Services team
The Loyalty and Financial Services team offers a wide and diverse range of interactions with our customers, the wider Countdown team and external partners. Onecard helps our customers to save money in a variety of ways on their everyday needs and enables them to have access to competitions open only to them.
While all of us are committed to bringing great food at low prices to our customers, we would not be able to do so if it wasn’t for the group of dedicated analysts and researchers in our Insights team that provide us with relevant information that allows us to engage with the right message for the right people.
By talking to New Zealanders, understanding local and global social trends and tracking our own performance the team keeps the entire business focused on delivering the best possible experience to our customers. If you like asking the right questions, know how to read between the lines, don’t mind getting stuck in numbers and data joining the insights team will give you an incredible opportunity to engage with almost all aspects of the business.
Media Solutions team
Our Media Solutions team is the link between our suppliers and our customers, creating engagement and advertising opportunities for the brands sold in our stores. If you enjoy a fast paced sales environment and working closely with New Zealands’s biggest FMCG brands then joining the Media Solutions team will make you part of a journey from those who supply us, to those who buy from us.

You don’t need to be a chef or foodie, but if you buy groceries now and then we are sure you understand what our customers want and will always do the right thing for them. If your skill and experience is with customers, advertising, marketing, communications, sales, analytics or social media: you have a great chance of using all of them throughout your marketing career at Countdown, while learning more about the changing customer landscape, shopping behaviours, attitudes and marketing effectiveness than in any other industry.
